The project "For a Viable WEEE Recycling Value Chain in France" will develop knowledge and analysis of the urban resource (territorial metabolism - local material balance - as well as characterisation and sampling methodologies and treatment processes for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) (concentration/intelligent sorting/new low-carbon processes and study of their mechanisms). Finally, it will study the implications of WEEE recycling strategies for resource accessibility and environmental impacts.
The ANR-22-PERE-0009: REVIWEEE project is one of the ten targeted projects funded in 2023 by the PEPR Recyclability, Recycling and Reincorporation of Recycled Materials. It is coordinated by the NIMBE laboratory (UMR 3685 CEA/CNRS) and its consortium also includes the following eight institutions:
- BRGM (Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières);
- UMR 5600 - ENVIRONMENT, CITY, SOCIETY of the CNRS and the Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University;
- The Chemical Engineering Laboratory of the University of Toulouse III, Paul Sabatier;
- The Borelli Centre at ENS Paris-Saclay;
- Institut de Chimie Séparative de Marcoule;
- InSyTE - The Interdisciplinary Research Unit on Society-Technology-Environment Interactions at the Troyes University of Technology;
- The PPRIME Institute: Research and Engineering in Materials, Mechanics and Energy at the University of Poitiers.
- The CEA's LITEN Institute.
